I will be going to Switzerland and to Italy this June and would like to know if I can carry a Spyderco Delica in those countries. I plan to take it in my check-through luggage, not in carry-on of course. Can anyone tell me if there are any restrictions that would make this inadvisable in either country?

Fuller-if you get an answer, let me know. I'm planning to do the same with a Spyderco too. Hate to have it confiscated.

I'm unsure about airport security and Swiss laws BUT

Italian knife laws are tremendously slack. I don't believe that Italy even has a knife length limit. You can also carry switchblades if you have a certain license there. You see knives for sale ALL OVER the streets of many cities. Think of NYC's China town with purses and such only the tables are covered in fake CRKT knives. Don't expect an Italian police officer to ever give a damn about anything you're doing.
