Hello,('
I got married 4 years ago and our cakes knife was an 8" KA-BAR with a tanto style blade. Can I carry it on my belt in public?

Open or concealed carry of a knife, fixed or folder, is OK upstate. Carry of any knife that appears to be designed primarily for defense is illegal. You might be able to talk your way past a cop or two, but in short order your knife is going to be confiscated and possibly charges filed for misdemeanor possession of a weapon. If you're doing some hiking, camping, hunting, fishing you're fine with it on your belt. For open belt carry I imagine anything with a blade much over 3 or 4" that doesn't look very utilitarian/traditional is going to get you into some trouble.

I thank you for your quick and illu minating reply. Though it comes as a disappointment as it is a beautiful knife and handy to boot. I guess I'll just have to start hunting grizzlie. Thanks again.
