I would like opinions from people who travel a lot.

What would be the "passe-partout" type of knife, a knife that would be legal all over the world (except maybe in England :P)

Tell me what you know. I already took away balis, autos and AO's from my mind.

The safest bet I'm finding is a 3" bladed Swiss Army knife without a lock blade . In England I purchased a Swiss Army knife out of a store in London. Any length lock back knife is banned in England/Scotland :barf: . People/police tend to view the Swiss Army knife as a utility knife over a weapon. They will always ask you why you have a knife and the best reply seems to be to use as a "tool". Travelers might be given a little slack for their ignorance.

I have never had any questions about my spyderco enduras when I have traveled... germany, netherlands, france, italy, czech, poland, russia, switzerland & austria... never went to the isles, but I think they may freak there.... LOL I can also attest to never having been "picked up" in most of these counties by the athorities, other than routine (read drug search) stops. I have been picked up in Russia for "improper papers" (read bribe) but they didnt say a word about it.... I am sure they would have, if it were a big deal.... It might have gotten them more rubles LOL

PS, was never stopped from gettting on a flight with an endura, or the rescue that i carried for a few years, prior to 9/11 either....
