Hey there yall, ive seen some pics of knife handles with color layered g-10 (black and red) ive also seen knife making suppliers that sell g-10/carbon fiber layered, and ive been wondering how you layer it and make it look good. im trying to get in to knife making and this seems like something that can make a nice look better then stuff you can just buy. any help is appreciated thank you

I've always been under the assumption that the material what made in layers. I'm sure I've seen it listed somewhere.

UNLESS... you're talking about a two, maybe three layers. I've make scale handles with two contrasting pieces of wood. Usually a dark wood on the outside and light colored wood next to the tang. It's a challenge though keeping the light colored wood from getting "dirty" from the dark wood and the steel coming from the tang.

Making G-10 scales, is a business all it's own. If you want quality G-10 for making your own knives, then I'd say just search around and buy some quality, professionally made materials.
It's not impossible to make them yourself, but again, that's a process that may or may not work out for you.
Like mentioned above, a polish, and the way the scales are contoured will make the layers take a certain look.
For example, the pic before this post, could have a topographical look with some contours.
