Ok guys and gals. Our member spydutch posted a thread about a beat up camp knife a few days ago. I suggested maybe he could try electrolysis rust removal to clean it up. A few members expressed interest, so here it is.

This is the introductory post, I will continue it and get down to the nitty gritty after my son graduates tomorrow afternoon. It may be a couple days, but fear not, we's gonna e-lectro-lyze us a knife. Hopefully it works, if not well, we won't do that again, will we?

Here's the victim......er...donor...er....uh...participant? Near as I can tell it is a Ward's stockman. Pretty beat up, heavy rust and some blade damage. But, if this works it will be a decent knife, even if slightly thinner blades due to sharpening out the nicks and dings.

I'm not sure how the bone scales are going to work out in the solution, but we'll see about that too I guess.

Stay tuned for more. Now.....where'd I put my battery charger.....???

I'll be very interested to see how this comes out.

I realize there are Traditional regulars who have expressed interest, but the topic itself is outside the realm of Traditional and belongs in Maintenance and Tinkering. I'm going to move this and leave a permanent link instead of a temporary one.
