I just purchased This oven. Got it hooked up and programmed some schedules. Started my first normalizing run on a couple of blades. First time it ran up to 850f the started cooling back down when I tried again it would only go to 450f the ramp down. I switched off the unit and tried again, it got to 850f and started to ramp down. This schedule was set point 1650f with a ramp rate ASAP and a 15 minute hold. Has any one else had this problem? I have an email to Evenheat but would like to crank this thing up and use it this weekend.

Is there a door switch that cuts off power? Once in a while mine needs to be adjusted otherwise same thing happens as oven warms up.

I would look for a max temperature setting.

Maybe check the leads for the thermocouple and see if they are tight.

Check the manual and see if there is a "factory reset" or some such option that will wipe the controller programs clean. Then try again.

Thermocouple are tight but I do have a question. My yellow wire is going to the positive and the red is going to the negatively, on 24v stuff I know the red is usually positive but not sure on the thermocouple. I have built up PIDS before but can’t remember the wire colors

On a type K TC red is negative and yellow is positive.

Mske sure they are on the correct + and - terminals on te TC and te PID. To check the wires and the TC ... the negative wire is somewhat magnetic, but the positive wire is not.
It isn't always done, but there should be a red dot at the negative TC lead and it should be marked with a -.

The lead dont have a red dot but it is red so I guess it’s correct. My voltage is good so it’s a problem with the unit let Evenheat figure it out it’s only days old I’m not going to open it up

Calling Evenheat is a good idea.

The lead I was referring to is the actual thermocouple metal lead, not the TC wires from the PID. These leads mount in the TC block and the lock screws are tightened against them. There is usually a red dot by the negative screw. The TC wires attach to the block next to the corresponding polarity thermocouple leads.

Just to play devil's advocate: It is possible you made an error in the programming, and it is not set for a long enough run time or similar issue.
Open the manual and start at step one. Program the steps paying close attention to things like decimals and such.

The only time to set is the hold time. I have the ramp up at as fast as possible. There is nothing in the setting for run time or max temp. The funny thing is I hit start and it starts to heat quick I never hear the SSRs kick off the temp just starts going down. When I abort the schedule I can hear the SSRs kick off. There may be something off in the advanced setting but a factory rep needs to go in there.

I’m sure Evenheat will make it right for you. Years ago I bought a new oven from them that kept over heating as soon as I started using it. They sent me a whole new unit to try out before asking for the other one back. Excellent customer service.
