Looks like another great discussion forum here, I have enjoyed some of the few threads I've read so far. I tried the search function and the 2 top threads to see if anything appeared about the question I had, some of the other forums I participate have similar features so redundant questions are minimized by being able to research the topic first.
I've been a Schrade fan since a kid, like rooting for the home team, was sad to hear of the latest on this MFR in '04, incidentally which I thought made a great quality product, Schrade steel etc. and had a long heritage here in NY.
I'd like to learn more about their history and some of the technical aspects of there alloys and what made there products good, unlike what seems to be taking the market share now. Personal favorite is the 30T I carry at all times.
I'm sure this has been brought up before, but what why were serial numbers stamped on some LB-7's ?
I had one, brass bolsters and rosewood handles if that is a correct description. I briefly left it on the work bench in the door shop, not far away from the timeclock, just left for a minute to punch back in and someone grabbed it. This was 17 years ago, I used it at lunch every day, opening grapefruit, peeling an apple etc. It may have been bought at K-Mart amongst the common lines those kind of stores carried. I had always wondered about the serial number on the bolster. I still have the empty sheath, it reminds me how much I dislike a thief, but I think it needs another schrade LB-7 to make it complete !
Excellent forum, look forward to doing some reading here, have a great day !
