This is not a woodgrain box(I don't think), so I can't figure out a time period for it. I also think, other than color, it's the same as SCs and maybe SFO boxes. How does it compare to the "a sharp idea" box?

It is a "leathergrained" gift box with flocked vac tray. Look at the trade names and logos on the associated paperwork.

The LB-1 pattern itself dates from 1982 through 1996.

The Uncle Henry gift boxes were used from the early/mid 1970's until well after the intro of the "Sharp Idea" box in the mid 1980's after the Baers bought Imperial and consolodated operations in Ellenville. Again, look at the logos, slogans and trademarks. A very good way to become familiar with these is to study them on the dated factory materials on the archive site.

The programmer who created this site for collectors free use spent countless hours and a lot of money in sorting, scanning, arranging and personally funding the website. If he had been paid by a company to do this, he would be driving a new Cadillac Escallade. The materials presented there represent the most complete assemblage of factory flyers, catalogs, advertisements and promotional items ever available for public viewing. It has been and continues to be a monumental task. And questions about boxes, papers, knife patterns and their variants are quite often easily found there by just learning to "use the library".

We are constantly adding stuff to the virtual library. With a new Camillus section ready to open soon. Its a labor of addiction. It's cheaper to maintain than wine, women or gambling. Not as much fun though. But seeing that my wife is a 4th degree blackbelt, I manage to control myself and funnel the energy into something I can share.
I hope in the future to make it easier to search
If you are looking for something and cant find it on the site let me know. if you have something you want added let me know. Any negative comments keep to yourselves! :p
I could not have done this alone. Many folks have contributed material.
Please remember this site should be educational and fun so any comments please send along. My e-mail address is on the site and available here.

P.S. we have had 8700 + hits on the site. Without advertising to anyone but us knifeknuts, that is pretty good.
