Can anyone please tell me more about this model?

I believe its an Uncle Henry model?

What steel does it use?

I read that the first models of these used wood scales, when was the buffalo scales introduced?

For how much can I get one of these for??

Any other info like history etc will be most appreciated..

Thanks for all your help..

Most likely that is a current production knife for Taylor Brands, imported from China. There was once a picture on the website, but the description is still there. If you look through the Uncle Henry listing, you'll see some models with Buffalo horn...

...I don't believe that was produced in the Schrade factory in Ellenville.

Others may have more information.

P. S.
Also, some Old Timers in Sheep horn.

It's actually listed on ebay auctions as being the last production of this knife in Ellenville before the factory closed its doors.

How true is this??

Not very, I don't believe.

Hang on, maybe someone more knowledgeable will chime in.

I had a long detailed response all typed out and my power went out. I took this as a sign from above that I was being too harsh, possibly causing an international incident with our Asian comrads, and maybe casting ashes upon the importer. The last time I did so, the forum lost a valuable member who took issue with my viewpoint, and I lost a friend. So with this in mind, I'll simply say... if you seek an Imperial Schrade made in Ellenville New York, find a listing by a different seller.

Bill is correct.

Smokey has them. Says they arer Taylor < $12.00
From their site.

"brand: Taylor Brands, LLC. SCTLB5B
For 100 years, the Schrade name meant quality and craftsmanship. That all came to an end in 2004 when the doors closed on the Ellenville, New York factory. In 2005, Taylor Brands, LLC in Kingsport, Tennessee, acquired the Schrade name, trademarks, and tooling. In the knife business for over 25 years, Stewart Taylor knows how to market the brand and make it available again to the people who love it. He has done just that and once again, the Schrade name means quality and craftsmanship!"

·Stainless steel blade
·Buffalo horn handle
·Brass liners
·Nickel silver pins and bolsters
·3-3/4" closed

I got caught in the early stages of transition and bought a Sowbelly and Stockman with Sheep Horn Scales. The quality control was atrocious with bits of sheep horn coming out at right angles which I have now cut off however it does not improve the actual construction of the knives which is greatly inferior to anything that came out of Ellenville. They were first production runs, pity they werent the last. Save your money for a used genuine Schrade will give you better service and feel better in your hands. Hoo Roo

I have absolutely nothing against Taylor Brands,it doesn't matter if its made in Australia US or China if a company does not have quality control then crap is allowed to be packaged and sold. As an example I was just examining a Mint?Smith & Wesson Golden Issue 150th Anniversary 1852-2002. Double blade Hammer forged Surgical with tiny China imrrinted on tang. In my collection I hadnt really inspected closely until now. Guess what pin cracks right through handles...on a 4 year old mint? knife. What do I do with this splendid looking knife, sell it to some unsuspecting on Ebay?Keep it and treasure the workmanship that went into it..not,or use it until it inevitably breaks. This was not a cheap knife price wise, and would NEVER have made it out of Ellenville in the first place. Doesn't matter how its packaged or the fancy wording that goes with it crap will always remain crap...sorry if I offend those who would defend the Chinese products I have seen. Hoo Roo

Ahhhh... enlightenment... thanks for all the eloquent responses guys...

where can I find a genuine schrade lockback like this one?

Which model should I be looking out for??

I recently posted on this same seller at another forum. I confronted him about it not being a USA Schrade & he replied (after the auction closed) with some more lies. He still has a few more he's trying to pass off. Please do everyone a favor, when you find a seller who is selling fakes REPORT them to ebay. At the bottom of the listing page there is a link to report them. It only takes a minute, but it saves less informed people from throwing away money.
He is selling these $15 knives for $37.95 & people are actually paying. :thumbdn:

If you are looking for a Schrade lockback ebay can be a good place to find one, just make sure that the knife has USA in its stamp. To my best knowledge all american schrades were stamped USA. The newer "Taylor schrades" have an easily removed "China" etch. I'm not sure which model you are looking at, the Uncle Henry LB7 is larger, LB5 a bit smaller. Search this forum for posts on either.
