There may have been 2000 of these made. This is the first one i have seen. Do any of our members have one of these Damascus LB5's ?
As "A" is to denote the first year of Schrade using Damascus steel and the insert says that "A" will next come up in 27 years, there obviously were plans to make more Damascus bladed knives. Are there any others ?
Are these rather obscure, or am i just 'out of it' ?

Roland,
I have one, although the bling is in a little rougher shape than yours. I think the other Dave (DaveThinksTooMuch) here has shown one as well. They are really nice well-made knives. To my knowledge, the only other damascus knives that Schrade produced were the Joe Kious collaborations, but don't take my word for gospel on that one.

As far as I can tell Schrade never made it to 2000 of these. Looks that the number of orders was far less than they expected.
The Catalog/computer id for the LB5DM was 175.
In 1985 they produced 797, 1986 289, 1987 55, 1988 5
Too bad, its a great looking knife.

Thanks Dave and "Irv". These pics are not my knife, but it could be for $775.
I posted because this was a new one to me.
So app. 1100 were made and those who own them are keeping them, as so far now i've only seen 2 on ebay.

No, i might have, but i didn't see it.
The pics i posted are from a listing with a price tag of $775. The seller is a well known, long established collector of mostly high end custom knives, but this very high asking price is not realistic.
