i have just acquired my first LB7 Drop Point; #1108, 10TH Anniversary North American Fishing Club, shown in pic. below next to a regular LB7(serial# 53938).
i think the year was 1992(?) and also would like to know how many were produced.
i think it correct to say that about 2 million regular LB7s were made.
any estimates on how many Drop Points in total might have been produced?
and, am i correct that most were special orders like this one is, but some were also made in regular runs ?
please excuse poor pics. it keeps starting to snow so i had to hurry. roland

The North American Hunting Club was founded in 1988. Tenth anniversary would be 1998. But production records don't specify LB-7DP shipped until 1995 (754 pcs.) so I am not sure. I need to consult with the Schrade archive librarian whom I hoodwinked...er...convinced to buy one of these for his own collection.

Nice knife! I have 2 LB7DPs. Both have a tang stamp of "Schrade+/ USA LTD", but nothing special otherwise, and seen a number of others like them on the bay. So I believe they are common enough I would suspect there was some sort of limited production runs on them. Unfortunately, I can't back that up with anything concrete.

NAFC DP with the 10th year anniv Gold blade. 1000 were made in 1997.
They also ordered 5500 without the gold blade.
Both were SS and hade Birdseye maple handle.

hoodwinked.. more like shamed into it...

Thanks for the update. Yep, both of mine have the birdseye maple handles.

G'Day Roland, If your're interested both versions of the NAFC issue complete with boxes bling and Special NAFC Medallion that came with it are featured on my Corner on Schrades R Us pages 28 and 29.One was issued to Members NAFC etched on bottom of triangle on blade and the other is for a 'Life Member' etched on blade. Yours may be a Life Member on your blade.Am I correct? I think this version of drop point with the 24K gold etch is one of the prettiest Special Editions turned out by Schrade.Hoo Roo

you are right Larry, "Life Member" in a banner across the bottom of triangular shield in middle of the etch. also, i should have looked more carefully; 1988 and 1998 are also on the etch.
i liked this knife as soon as i saw it on "the bay", but did not know that only 1000 were issued or that etch is gold, well worth my $44 winning bid.
actually i think any unused pre 2004 Schrade LB7 is worth that. my choice for "if you could only have 1 knife".
there are still many good deals to be had on original Schrades. i think prices will continue to go up, and unlikely to ever decrease, much like original Remingtons. roland

Just after the Schrade closing there were number appearing on e-bay without the etch, I managed to get one also, nice to know how many were actually made, thanks for the info Larry!
