I have an LB7 that I purchased used in the 1980s. It came in a black leather Schrade sheath. The tang is stamped:
SCHRADE+
U.S.A. LB7
The serial number is N31648

I purchased on eBay a couple months ago and the tang stamp reads:
Uncle Henry
SCHRADE +
LB7 U.S.A.

I have been looking for an LB5 and the ones I see on eBay say, 'Uncle Henry' on the tang. I found a target of opportunity today in a local pawn shop. I found the LB5 in good condition for $15 (and I didn't have to pay shipping).:D
but the tang stamp reads:
SCHRADE+
U.S.A. LB5

My question is: What years were the LB5 & LB7 made with the Schrade name and what years were they made with the Uncle Henry name on them? Does anyone know why the change came about? Does anyone have some background information on this? Codger...... maybe?

Thanks,
Dale

Larry (lrv) or Phil (textoothpk) are probably the men to ask on the LB series. There are Chinese repros on ebay now that use the signature script on the tang, but they will not say U.S.A.

I haven't started acquiring the LB series yet, and have paid them little attention, but when the search function comes back online, you can find some discussiond that might help, particularly with the alpha-numeric serial numbers. UHfan, a former long-time Schrade employee and unofficial historian, was with us a while back and shared some interesting information about them.

My older EDC LB5 is marked
Uncle Henry
Schrade +
LB5 U.S.A.
A newer one is stamped
Schrade +
U.S.A. LB5
I have 2 specials marked
Schade +
U.S.A. LTD
One is a bone handle the other has brass bolsters.
Note that all true Schrades are stamped U.S.A.
Hope the helps a little
