Hi guys, glad to see this thread. I am trying to fix a pretty Schrade LB-7 in very nice rose colored wood I gave to a friend in 1990 or 1991 as B-Day present. He broke the lock somehow several years ago and I just found out. I would have thought it impossible, as I have two of them myself and they always have locked up very tight and solid. He's a good friend, but let's just say I don't loan him anything I'm not prepared to lose or have reconfigured, if you know what I mean.
I know Schrade is gone, and the new stuff is junk. #1, how could I find an orig. Schrade LB-7? Someone mentioned e-bay, but that stuff looks like the Chinese clone junk to me. If it says "Made in USA" is that enough? I looked at a bunch but figured the cheap price meant Chinese...
And #2, failing that, can anyone recommend a repair place that could fix this one? It's still in perfect shape otherwise. (Ah! I just saw
w5rwu's post. I'll email him, but any other recommendations for knife repair would be welcome.)
Thanks for your help! :thumbup::thumbup:
BTW, I have a very pretty stag LB-7 with file work on the spine. I'll try to post some pics of it soon and maybe you can give me an idea of what it might be worth. Not interested in selling it, just trying to get a handle on its value.
