LB7 Serial #?

I just discovered something on my latest Schrade; it's an old, well-used but taken care of SCHRADE+ USA LB7, and there's a serial number on the bolster - #R47839. I didn't clean it when I bought it, as it reminds me of the one I had in high school, and today the light hit it just right and I discovered the number.

Is that an indicator of when it was made? I haven't had time to research it yet. just figured I'd put the question out there and see what comes up from you folks.

I love little surprises like that. :)

Dave - thanks; I had searched, but for some reason either hadn't found that one or overlooked it.

Going by this post, I thought my LB7 was made in 1980:

Is there any info on what year the "R" prefix was used?
