LB7 vs LB8

I found one major difference which would make the LB7 stronger than the LB8 and that would be the lock back spring pivot pin. The LB7 is made of steel and the LB8 appears to be brass so it can be rolled to conform to the bone handle. Now, I never seen an LB8 failure until I found one listed on e bay with a broken lock spring and it appears the brass pivot pin has failed. I like both knives and the only knives I have found to be comparable are Bear & Son which I found at my local hardware store. I got to hold a Bear and Son and they aren't as heavy as Schrade thinner brass and less handle rivets but very high quality. Anyone else know of this company? All their stock is made and assembled here in the U.S..

I've never owned anything from Bear & Son, but the reports over in Traditional are that their quality is not very good.
They have made knives for a couple other companies. IIRC one of them was certain models of Moore Maker.

Thought I'd see what others thought before buying one. If the quality is sub par I'll stick with what I have for now. Thanks for the reply.

I just sent one bear and son rosewood lockback back to the factory because it had super poor fit between the scales and bolsters, on one of them I could insert a piece of cardboard. I also had to send back a india stag lockback because the blade wobbled and the front bolsters where of different thicknesses.
They are good knives, but they seem to have a quality control issue.
I have not received the rosewood one back from repair, we shall see.
