Just purchased my first LB7 from an estate sale this morning. I noticed that on the bolster is stamped,"Q81856". I've looked up and down the internet trying to identify the purpose of that number. Haven't had any luck. Is it a production number? Any insight into it's signifigance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Dale H.

Dale, i've got a stable full of LB7s. all from ebay, most have been used. everyone is totally solid in lock-up. i also have a few Buck 110s; not as solid.
LB7, a high ranking member in the "Production knife Hall of Fame".

I love LB7's and have a few of them. A guy at church has been carrying the same one on his belt for many years, and that got me hooked. Great knife, and it lasts forever.

They really are great knives. I have more than a few now, and buy them whenever I find a good deal. You can't go wrong with a good old USA made LB7.

Glad we could help. The Bear Paw is what got me hooked on Schrade. These are solid lockbacks indeed and Schrade made a million variations of them. Be careful or be broke lol! Roland is not lying when he says he has a stable of them and you may find you want a few more yourself!

I was very impressed by Roland's collection but he was to humble to supply the link. Check it out!

Dave, That is quite a nice collection he has!On Friday,I had picked up a 142OT with a broken tip. Reworked the tip and was going to give it to my son. Then on Saturday, I picked up the LB7 bearpaw and now I'm rethinking. I just may give him the bearpaw instead. Tough decision! Dale

Now, Irv's link shows a real collection !
but i too can't resist a good deal on an LB7, so my accumulation of this pattern continues to grow.

nice knife eh ? i've seen that sheath alone go for nearly the same price.
collecting Schrades is FUN ! even after 2+ years now, my excitement of getting another Schrade is just as strong. now i'm looking for one of those fancy S-W or SCC gold knives (for a 'low' price; some people are bidding based on knife's weight, thinking that reflects amount of gold, which is at record(?) high).

they are "everywhere". just be sure you can differentiate from the similar Camillus 5" LB. (or collect those as well)

Dude, I'm glad you snagged that one! You got it for a great price too! You could double your money in a week. I nearly tried to "snipe" it from you but I have another "Anheuser-Busch" engraved LB-7 on the way and a couple of those SAS-15 sheaths already so I let it pass and bought food instead lol. I think Schrade peaked in the '70s and '80s but that's just me.

Next spring etc we BC Schrade-heads should indeed get together for some sharing of bush-craft ideas and knives and good times in general. Nice knife! Cheers! p.s. I'm keepin' my gold one! Hands off! lol
