I guess in collecting one needs to know in what direction they are headed. I have several Schrades but the majority of my collection is now LB 7's. In looking at them I noticed there are blade variations. Is this just my eye fooling me, bad sharpening practices or is there really a change in the blades over time. My knives run from serial # 40611 to AW20136 to blank. I will try and take some photos to share.

The LB7 is a great knife, and can be costly for collecting because Schrade made SO many variations of it, i.e. different scrimshaws, commemoratives, employee presentation knives companies could order, some different handle materials and some with nickle silver bolsters, some with drop point blades, etc.

I know that doesn't answer your question, but I will chime in on it as best I can, while leaving the real answer to the experts here. The LB7 began production some time in the late 70's (78/79 timeframe), and ran, I believe, until Schrade went under in 2007. During that time, the main blade was a clip point blade, but I'm pretty sure there were variations on it, such as the nail nick placement/shape, blade shape, edge grind, and so forth. I think it's still possible for new variations to be brought to our attention here, there were so many.

I have yet to put together some of my LB7s for pictures, which I intend to do at some time, but please post yours. Maybe it will finally force me to get off my butt and take some too.

Just pointing out Schrade closed their doors in 2004,not 2007, i just looked though my LB7's, about 54 of the little beauties, and i don't see any difference in blades, except a drop point blade with no nail nik on a N.A.F.C 10th anniversary knife.happy collecting,G.M
