LB8 bolsters?

I've noticed some LB8s have brass bolsters and some have nickle-silver bolsters. Could someone enlighten me as to when they were brass and when they were NS? I notice Clemente only mentions NS.

Thanks,
Dave

P.S. Pardon me if this has already been discussed, I searched to the best of my feeble abilities...

Dave,
My 3 are Brass.
Don't think I've seen a NS.
Anyone have a picture of a LB8 with NS and any history?
We can always get Robert to modify his text.
I'll start looking through the catalogs.

Thanks for the picture.
I've forwarded the ? and pictures to Robert.
All the catalogs from 94 on show brass.
Those catalogs before 94 that I have are in B&W and I couldnt find mention of the bolster material.
This just might be a job for the Codger man!

Larry, Have you heard back from Robert? Any other thoughts on to approach this problem? Sometimes the urgency of these questions dies off after a couple of days, but not in this case...

Does anyone else out there have color picture catalogs of old LB8s?

Thanks,
Dave

Plenty of variants were made over the years that never appeared in the catalogs and fliers. Here is a LB5NS I recently acquired. Another lousy eBay pic though, sorry!

(PS- The "NS" designation is not official, just my own best way of identifying the nickle silver bolstered variants using Schrade's own lingo)

Codger, Thanks for the picture. I know what you mean about the variations. Based on Clemente's book, I'm thinking the LB8 started out with NS bolsters and switched to Brass somewhere along the line. I was just trying to find out (a) if that's true, and (b) if so, when the change occurred.

The 1999 Schrade product catalog shows the LB5, LB7, and LB8 with brass bolsters:

Over the years, the LB5's came with both brass and NS bolsters, but I've probably seen more of them in NS.

In 1992 LB8, LB7 have Brass bolsters
LB5,3 & 1 all N.S.
Robert is looking.
More when I find it.
