A bit of family resemblance with the EDC, no?? ;) One of the reasons I had to buy it!

A few thoughts...I really need another knife in this range like I need a hole in the head- but I couldn't resist. I've been curious about the thinner version of the LBK for a long time. This knife does not disapoint! Was easy to see that this is another great woods knife. I like the grind and added belly. I think the GBB has the more comfortable handle...you can see it's a little fuller, shorter and I like how it thickens at the butt (hey...that sounded... ;) :) )

The GBB is my favorite hiker for sure and the EDC is one of my favorite knives period. The LBK has huge potential and I only had it out for a minute- but this is a winner. I have a couple other knives in this range shaking for fear of being off to the exchange- I can tell the LBK is that good. I'll post more as I get her out...

Oh, Christof did some real nice file work too...subtle, looks good and feels just as good!

I've had it out a few more times now and am really enjoying this blade. It's a work horse and great all-rounder. Was pretty good in the kitchen- but I think the GBB is better there.

Something it can do which surprised me is chop. With the longer handle, I can grip it to the rear and it went through this wood easily to make a walking stick. In this size range, the only knives I do this with are from the Scrap Yard or Swamp Rats...the res-c make chopping comfy. The LBK was efficient and didn't transmit shock! Color me pleasantly surprised...

I'me getting the hand of the grind and it's a fine wood worker...I really can't do fuzz sticks any better.

Got a better picture of a little drilling- the tip is plenty strong and does great. The GBB is ground to be more of a power drill and it's handle is more comfortable for me. Also got a couple pics showing the file work...I love it, great job Christof!

This is the thinner version of the LBK, but it's plenty tough for me! Reduced this:

To this in 2 or 3 minutes:

And still perfectly sharp!

I was a little surprised when lmalterna passed on the GBB in favor of the LBK, but I can appreciate the choice now. As an all-rounder, I think the LBK takes it. The GBB is just a perfect hiking/camping blade, but if it's a case of "oh dang, Canada just invaded" grab one 4" blade- it would be the LBK. It's the one for prepping food, the fire wood and digging a hole to poop in. (Better in that order) ;)

In some ways I really don't even need to type feedback, I was reading how Christof describes both blades and it's right on the money to me. Just 2 great blades!

Lastly, even though I think the GBB takes it in the looks department, I don't think my photos capture the lbk is a good looking blade. I've kept on looking at my pics and the knife, and they don't mesh up well for some reason. In my mind it's a good looking blade- just more so in person.

RPN,
Seems my GBB and LBK are slightly different blade profiles than yours. But that is something I like about Christoffs work, they are not cookie cutter- each one is unique. Does make side by side comparisons a little harder. I like a drop to spear point for most everything and my GBB is a straight spine, more like a slightly longer Stead knife.

Having the spear point Ash Necker, I think if I would stretch the blade length of my LBK slighlty to give a little more battonning clearance, I would have an ideal two knife set up for how I use knifes. I might cheat and keep a small SAK with me- I like the reamer for dilling small holes and the saw for making flash tinder/dust from pitchwood.

That LBK is really a hard knife to leave at home! :)

I do have a particular individuality to each knife, yeah.

The stretched out lbk idea..... okay, I did that. got some heat treated for regular sale- but the spearpoint done longer is the FKUK. :D

I occasionally get a little bit more aggressive on filework, but ever since I "gave in" and started doing it I have tried to keep is subtle so it doesn't take over the knife. I have had a few independent comments of "ooohoh, subtle, NICE!" and that's kept me committed to the style.

Christoff,
No way I am letting my LBK go, unless.. I see a tad longer version taht I think will suit me better- something in the order of a Light Bolo or FKUK. I saw the wrapped handled ones go by. I really like the handle on the LBK with intergral guard and the Trail Knife I picked up. Lets me put tons(if I had the stregth) of forward pressure on the blade withough chance of slipping forward or without the rear of DE blade diggin into my finger. Inspires confidence, it does ;)

But for now, MY LBK and Necker are part of the family.
