LCC or SOCOM

O.K., it's come to one of the toughest desisions I have had to make. I have a 1998' SOCOM with the Silver finish partly serrated. I also have a 2000' LCC plain edge with a bead blasted finish. I carried both for a few days each. I love both of em' but I want to be one of those guys who has all the Mt's in perfect condition except for the one I carry every day. I want to make the desision before I use one and create a blemish that would make it look used. Which one do you guys think should be the user? That way I can buy a replacement for the collection.

If it were me, the LCC would be the user. It's lighter and smaller. It looks refined and gentlemanly, and strong enough for anything.

Whereas the SOCOM is built for high adrenaline scenarios not commonly encountered (depends on your lifestyle I guess)

Well, I have both and like you I love them both so I carry both. Since your looking for one to store away I would have to say for me it would be the Socom. IMHO the LCC just has more style and I feel that it has a better feel than the Socom when putting it to use. When it comes to carry comfort I would have to say that they are both pretty close.

I gotcha. I'm a bit of a high speed individul. I'll be carrying this when on duty (LEO) as well as at play. I know that both are awesome. I should also take into account that the SOCOM is discontinued but, it has the Silver finish. Ya know the whole anti-rust thing is big with me.

I have both and really prefer the handle shape and the feel of the Socom.

To pick only one. . .I'll go for the Socom.

I'd put away the SOCOM and carry the LCC.
I actually put away my SOCOM Elite (pre-production grind, anopeen finish) because i feel that it's going to go up in value.
It's also just a little overkill compared to the LCC.
It's a huge knife (not that the LCC is any smaller, it's actually a lot lighter than the LCC) and i don't need to scare people while cutting stuff.
The LCC's are also easier to get, why not buy another LCC and put it away?
As for the corrosion resistance of the LCC, it'll be more prone to rusting not only on the uncoated blade, but where the scales and bolsters lay against the liners. I took mine apart for cleaning (i dont worry much about warrenties) and noticed some corrosion.
It wasn't much and i don't think it's really anythign to worry about as long as you keep it all oiled.

The LCC is lighter? Nuh uh. The DA LCC weighs around 5 1/2 oz. while the DA Socom is around 4 1/4 oz. The LCC is thick, bulky, and has a lot of squared edges. I find it overly heavy (a real pig in fact), dead feeling in use, and ergonomically challenged. The Socom is a better carry knife in all ways that matter save perhaps toy factor.

As for putting either one away, why bother? They’re just factory knives, made by the thousand. Neither are what I’d consider collectable. That’s kind of like “putting away” a new socket set.

The y are both good users but i would go with the socom.
just because the more positive gripping of the socom. On the other hand, the blade of the lcc will be the better slicer and all propurse style.
