LCC questions

I received my LCC from Chief last Friday. I love the knife (and Chief displayed his usual outstanding service) however I do have a couple questions about this knife.
1. What is the narrow pin for at the butt of the handle?
2. It appears that the liners were drilled for a lanyard hole, however the carbon fiber was not.?
3. The liners have grooves machined into them, two on one side, three on the other. Is this to reduce weight?
4. Is it possible to get one of the shark-logo sheaths as an aftermarket item?
All in all, I'm extremely pleased with the LCC and highly recommend it as a daily carry folder. Great job, Microtech!

I've had my LCC for about 3 weeks now and still like it as much today as I did 3 weeks ago. Just can not get over how "custom" it looks.

The pin is the lanyard attatchment point. The frame is drilled with the holes you mentioned but if you drill them on through the CF I think the cord would be in contact with the blade. You know what would happen then! I thought the same thing about weight reduction for the slots in the liners. Don't know about the sheath. Paul I think you have made a great purchase. I am just waiting for that DA to hit town. Heard somewhere on another post that a few would get loose at the end of September with the bulk in October.

Cool, Art-thanks. I sure hope the DA's do get released at the end of this month. A week ago I was wondering if I really wanted one, especially after ordering the MA. Once I got my hands on the MA I knew FOR SURE that I had to have the DA.
I still would like one of those shark-emblem sheaths, though...

BTW-it would have been neat if MT would have anodized the lanyard pin to match the spacers, but now I'm nit-picking!

1. Lanyard (as has been discussed already). The anodizing idea would be neat, but the lanyard would cover it and quickly rub the color off anyway. Plus I believe it is SS, not Ti.

2. Art hit it right on the nose.

3. Yep.

4. Now maybe I can shed light. Chief has the only one of those MT/Shark sheaths that I know of. I even tried to talk him out of it. It came with the LCC DA Proto he got from Tony. It's very possible that it is a one of a kind (let's hope not) that Tony made for himself. I'm still hoping that the DAs will all come with the "Shark Sheath".

Thanks, John. Great photopoint site, by the way.
Now for the next question, the all-important one.
Being that the LCC is made by Microtech, Masters of the Varient Models, will we be seeing some limited runs of LCC's? (Brend blades, claw/dagger logos, satin-finish, etc)

Weelllll . . . . I think we can just about guarantee that.

One limited run has already been officially announced. John (Chief) has an exclusive limited run coming out soon. Twenty "full dress" LCC DAs. Damascus blades and bolsters with either Abalone or MOP scales (customers choice). I'm already in on that one.

I have heard of another that hasn't been announced yet (but should be very, very soon . . . like maybe weeks away).

The LCC is going to be one of MTs most popular products. Everyone is in love with the MA version, but they are going to go absolutely nuts when they get ahold of one of the DAs. I think it's a sure bet we'll see a few variations and I'll have to have at least one of each.

...and after checking out your photopoint albums I know that's not an idle threat!

LOL!

I should mention that those in the "Micro Gallery" and "Emerson Gallery" are not mine. That account is pretty much my "working pictures" for the forums.

I put 90% of my knives on another (secret) Photopoint account.

Why would they put a Brend blade on a Greg Lightfoot designed piece? D'Oh!! I'd love to see a proper SATIN finished blade though... Stonewash looks kinda funny and bead blast is just so... "feces-like."

"Why would they put a Brend blade on a Greg Lightfoot designed piece?"
Because folks would BUY THEM!

(like me!)
Actually, I was thinking more in terms of having Mr. Brend finish one of the Lightfoot blades in his patented mirror finish.
And I second your vote for the satin finish. If I wouldn't lose the logo I'd do it myself. (still might...)

Now THAT is cool! I'm glad to hear that the logo stayed on even after THAT much polishing.
Thanks for the link, John.

D/A LCC's are in production..
Gregs was at MT last week and they were on the line..
The Lanyard is to be attached to the pin..
The reason the Carbon Fiber is not drilled out for a Lanyard One is the blade would cut it.
Satin Blade LCC's are comin eventually..
Take Care..
