Someone know if the screws in the Microtech LCC are torx and what size.It appears that my Benchmade torx kit doesn't have the proper size for the pocket clip screws. Are they metric or standard and what is the size? Thanks,Ralph

They are T6.

Still, I am told they do have Loctight on them. It depends how warm it is where you are, my room was a bit cold...

If a fastener has had Loc-Tite applied, just touch the tip of a hot soldering iron to the screw for a second, then immediately put the allen wrench in and remove it. The heat softens the Loc-Tite. Walt

Your too late two of the three screws are stripped and wrecked my t-6 torx tool to boot, any suggestions how to remove them other than sending to MT?

DOH!!!! Sorry I forgot to say about this in my first post...

Two options

1. Send to MT
2. Get spare screws from MT and drill out screws.

(as an aside I think T6 SUCKS)

WEll it would seem t-6 sucks,at least if any asked me at this point and my t-6 tool made by crecent sucks too,it has stripped itself, maybe the thing reasponsable for the stripped screws. The tool worked on the first screw,oh hell I don't know.I figured I would be advised that drilling was probably the only thing to do,so today thats what I'm gonna do.I just don't want the clip, thats the reason I was trying to remove it.Once I get it off,I'll be alright, thanks for the advice.Ralph

Let me know how it pans out.

Well all I can say is I'm damn good

:
What I did was take a wide bit close to the size of the head and just drilled out the heads of the screws.Off came the clip and what was left was nice screw pieces sticking up in the recessed clip area in the carbon fiber, then I got my baby vise grips locked on to the screws shaft and just unscrewed and eased them out. This way I still have the factory sized threaded holes still unharmed in case I want to put the solid clip on at some point, and can still utilize the factory style/size hardware.I'm pleased with my results, thanks all for the advice, mission accomplished.Ralph

Glad it worked out for you. I am trying to get a solid clip by the way, let me know if you have any luck getting one in the future!

Yes I have e-mailed MT, still waiting...

I sent an e-mail too, hopefully they at least answer me,even if they don't agree to send me a freebee,if it is reasonablly priced I might be willing to buy one.To be honest the main reason I took the clip off is because it kept hanging up in my sheath when drawing the knife.I don't think the cutout style clip would be strong enough for clip carry anyway.

Yeh, got mine in my inside pocket right now! Don't think I would trust it to belt carry... Supose that is the reason for the pouch!

Are you going to the Nov N.Y. show?

I am hopeing to make the trip all the way over there and see some Formites!

I would like to make it to one of these big shows.I've never been to an "all knife" knife show before, just Gun & Knife.I'll have to see if I can make it to one near the end of the year.

What are you guys doing to these clips? I just got mine, and I can't see the clip bending under anything approaching 'reasonable' use. And most of my black clips are getting towards being silver by now, so I don't exactly baby them.

e_utopia: Took my clip off to re-bendit. It was slightly "sprung". I was able to bend it back with just my fingers--the only clip I have ever been able to do this with. The skeletonized clip does not appear to be overly strong. I'm going to try to find a way to replace it. My only minor gripe, though, the knife is otherwise superb.
I always make the 2 NY shows. Many major makers are in attendance. At the last Nov. show, Bob Terzuola sold out his entire stock in less than 2 hours of the first day.
PS How do we know each other at next months NY show?
