I'm in the market for an LCC MA. This would be my first MT. I'm not sure which finish to get. I'm a low maintainence kinda guy and my knives see little 'action'.
1. What can you tell me about the 3 options (Bead, Stonewash, and Ti)?
2. Anyone have any links to some good pics?
3. Seen any good deals online?
Thanks

For a user, everyone says stonewash. That's what I ordered. It doesn't show scratches on the blade.

SW is more resistant to rust than Bead blast.

Black is the most resistant out of all three.

BB is a not a shiny surface like SW and finish won't wear off like Black. BB less rust protective.

Black is most resistant to rust. However, it will show wear. Especially if its a user. If not a user I think the edge shows up nicely against the contrast.

Stone wash is the happy medium for the undecided.

I like black-Ti coatings, but they do show marks real easily. I cut cardboard, and the coating will get thinner where the cardboard rubs and you will see a slight shading difference. Not too big a deal. For some reason this coating (on my SOCOM) seems to show marks even easier than Benchmade's BT2! It doesn't seem to actually scratch off as easily though.

I just picked up a plain edge black bladed manual and I think it is the most appealing of the 3 finishes. It will wear, but gives the knife more character IMHO.

I vote for the plain-edge, Black-ti model. But then, I have to prove everything to you! I buy Black-ti Microtechs because I do like to carry them and I believe they provide added corrosion resistance. I have heard that the clear nitrite actually withstands a salt-spray test better. You are very careful with your collection, and a stonewash finish would show less wear, and allow you to use the knife in pristine condition. I know that you will oil it and protect it with a Tuff-Cloth. Your grandson will get a great, rust-free knife.--OKG

Thanks for the advice gang. I'm leaning towards the stonewash but the Ti sure does look good
