I see that I can buy a model with Damascus Steel. What are the advantages of this steel? Will it rust really easy? Is is better than 154-cm? I will be carrying this knife every day. I don't mind the price. I just don't wan't to buy a rust prone knife. For that reason I would get the black bladed version.

There will probably be many opinions on this, but I personally think that Damascus is more of a decorative thing than a practical knife steel.

Don't get me wrong. It can be a virtual work of art in and of itself when done by a very skilled artisan. But for a basic working knife blade, I think you are much better off with the 154CM blade. As MT does it, the LCC is an incredible knife. It is almost a "custom" at a high-end production price. You will not be disappointed.

I'm no expert on Damascus, but that was my understanding as well..that it was more of a decorative steel rather than hard use.

Kind of like using the "Holy Grail" as your rinse and spit dental hygiene cup in the bathroom. And, it rusts.

The damascus that MT uses on the LCC is Mike Norris Stainless damascus. Only 200 were made and they carry the limited production Claw logo on them. I have one if anybody wants it.
