LE ASH 1 vs ASH 1 (combat grade)

i just noticed that i'm $65 away from just upgrading to the LE. :rolleyes:

"Limited Edition's blade has a satin finish, full height flat grind and Tiger Hide handles. Price: $497"

what is the 'full height flat grind'
and
is the satin finish better than the double cut?

the double cut is more durable in that it wont show scratches and marks as readily.

the dc is my favorite finish, satin a close second.

a full height grind means it is ground from spine to edge. starting at the spine, there is a flat bevel moving toward the edge.

a saber grind, i think, is when the grind stops prior to the spine, giving the blade three bevels including the edge.
 
They are both full height flat ground as I recall meaning they are ground on a flat plane all the way to the spine as opposed to a 3/4 grind like you see on say a Heavy Heart. The finish choice is relative to personal preference. I like both DCBB and satin.

does the LE come w/ magnum handles?
 
If your only $65 away go with the LE

Satin, Tiger Mags and the perfect thickness for the ASH1 size knife:thumbup:

But that's just me, you may love the thicker CG


edit- just noticed Kelly's post, you are the one that just don't know what you want:D Man your starting to stress me out over this knife, I can't imagine what you must be going through:D:p

Holy smokes, hasn't Amy put you on her bad list yet? LOL didn't you say you had changed your order with her at least three times?

haha. yep three times, then another email confirmation stating that she can NOT get the nice handle in the black/ tan g10. but i decided (i think) that i'm going to stick w/ the cg model. i just love the dc/ od g10 combo! i realize the le is thinner (not sure if that's better yet) and worth more long them, but i don't really intend on selling this one, so price is a bit insignificant (in terms of resale value) :)
 
Worth is relative. In five years, we'll be wondering where all the ASH1's went. THen someone will post their 5 and everyone will drool.

Just like what will happen with FBM's in about 2 years.

Hey...Hold up there...I said that you could not get a "Hand Shaped" Black and Tan G-10 handle on your ASH 1 order....(On the pics that you sent)

The Mag Black and Tan G-10 handle on the ASH 1 are Amazing....

and that is what I am ordering....and many more:):)
 
Maybe this is a dumb question and I hate to do anything that resembles thread hijacking - but hand shaped handles - those are handles that have been sanded down?

That has been an option out of the factory before? I always thought it was just the user/owner of the knife who did that.

That option is usually offered with Customs during shows and Ganzaas. To my knowledge, it has never been a routine offering on the website.

That is correct...it is a custom shop option ONLY...

However... it is true that you can only get hand shaped handles on custom shop knives. And most of the ganza blades come from the custom shop. :thumbup:

Amy, so i ordered the double cut/ od g10 magnum. i decided to go w/ that, cause i didn't really like the pics i was seeing of the mag black/ tan g10. i liked the custom one, but it's not available... haha. more confusion :p

i'm sure the od handle will go well w/ the dc blade tho!?
