Can't decide what to get as my second ASH1.... I'm really wondering about this, the second ASH is going to be an user (hunting, camping) and I can't decide if I really need a 5/16" 12inch Busse strapped to my side along with a 44mag and my day pack with my CGFBM attached to it! That's alot of steel.

So what do you think? DC or sterile LE???

I'm not sure if sterile will be an option this time around, but I have a call into the shop to verify.

I'd say sterile LE. I don't think the .320" is gonna be all that great as a camp blade. I think you would be much better off with a .220" LE for slicin', dicin', hackin' and choppin'. I can't remember, but what was the thickness of the ASH-1 SE thickness? You'll already be packing an FBM for the chopping part. To be quite honest I would buy one of the Camp Tramps on the exchange or flea-bay right now. I think that package is much more carry-friendly.

I bought both to use. My HOG ASH1 on the other hand...

Ya know....DC with black canvas Mags is the ultimate user and normally the sheer girth would be screaming at me to buy it....but, I've carried a 5/16" Busse before and they get pretty darn heavy on the belt. Especially when you have other stuff on that belt....heavy stuff! I'll still have the HOG knife as a 5/16"....

Damn! Sure glad we got a little while....cause I'm going to need some time to figure this one out! Thanks for the help guys.

Starve yourself until you lose enough weight to make up for the mass of the CG ASH1. It's the obvious choice.

Gotta love them both!

However, since the satin finish is "smoother" than DC, does is actually cut better than double cut?

ive used both and have not noticed any difference. of course i havent done any cliff stamp variety testing. :)

the main difference i noticed was the satin scratches easily. it is fairly easy to repair, but i prefer dc for users.
