If anyone thought that this year's Tour would be stale beer after many of the top contenders were bounced as a result of a doping scandal, think again:

The top riders are, with only a week to go, within seconds of each other. American Floyd Landis has regained the Yellow Jersey on Stage 15, the famous Alp' de Huez, coming in fourth on the stage and putting a mere 10 seconds on the previous jersey holder, Oscar Periero. Periero had gained the jersey on a previous breakaway, gaining back the 20+ minutes he was behind to go ahead of Landis by 1:30 or so. Landis swarmed up the famous alpine stage to put Periero 1:40 behind.
Shaping up to be a great race, that many are thinking may be decided in the final time trial.
Landis is an excellent time-trialist...

I've been following it too. It has turned out to be quite an exciting Tour and I don't think it has really suffered by the exclusion of the top cyclists.
