Wanted to make a poll but cant seem to find the option to do it. Anyway..

I'd like to get a FRN UKPK sometime soon but I want to ask you guys which blade shape you prefer and why. I think I like the Leaf style better but is there any specific reason why one is better/more practical that the other?

Also, I'm trying to figure which color I like best.. post any pics of your different UKPK colors you might have. internet retail pictures dont seem to do the colors justice (as I found out with the FRN E4/D4s).

Thanks you guys.

I say Drop Point.

Reasons....It looks better with the grind marks...It allows for an ergonomic "blade grip" where you grab the bade in your hands and use it for detail work or scraping. And it's lighter!

And everyone has leaf blades. You wanna be the cool guy with the different knife right? :-P

I have three UKPKs. One is leaf, two are DP. I love them all! Enjoy.

I like the looks and function of the DP better. I sold my burgandy FRN drop point, but really liked it. I just happen to like my FG g10 drop point better, and didn't need both.

BTW, as for function I'm talking skinning, which you may never do.

I like the leaf shape much better, like the original UKPK. The drop point just looks really inorganic and odd to me...

Yeah, i dont plan on using this knife for anything more than EDC stuff. Opening letters, cutting boxes, the occasional apple.. No skinning :)

I think the drop point is more versatile. You get all of the functionality of the DP and additionally the blade isn't as deep which is a plus. A deep blade doesn't allow you to work the blade into tight places or make tighter radial cuts.

The UKPK embodies one of the great things about Syderco; namely that they frequently place a very high degree of emphasis on design/functionality and let the aesthetics/formalism result as an outcome or by-product of function. So you end-up with a knife that breaks from convention a little bit, sometimes looking a little odd even. Once you come to know these knives you then understand their value, and perceive them as being visually stunning knives as well.

My personal opinion; I think the UKPK-DP FFG G10 is a 'beaut' of a knife. Sadly discontinued most likely due to poor sales due to its looks.

I say leaf!! Just my opinion, although the drop point might be more practical, I think that looks-wise there is no comparison. Just picked a ukpk in orange g10 with a leaf blade after hearing about their discontinuation. Sometime in the near future I will be picking up a lightweight in either blue or maroon!

drop point. looks great with the grind, and functional to boot.

looks like a mini Stretch almost.

why is there no lightweight Wharnie UKPK yet???
