hi all guys! long time no see cause lack of time and overload of work the last months.
here i'm today to proudly introduce you my latest work, a big fighter from leaf spring,5160 maybe? i can't be sure, and here i come to ask the bladesmiths to give me their lights. well this is how the knife begin.

i took a spring leaf, and i cut a piece off

i cuta small tail to it to give sure catch to the tong, and put it in the forge

i forge down the tip the tail and the fin ,and i do the rest with my hand grinder, this is the rough shape after this procedure

this is after the perimetrical correction

first rough grind

grinding finished, and the first thin layer of clay drying

second layer on

third layer on and pre heating at the forge entrance

just after quencing in olive oil, did you notice the small funny face on the clay??it hapend accidentaly!!

the blade all cleaned up and ready for eching

the blade wet from the echant PCB in our case

those pics are after three cyrcles eching and polishing, is this fantastic or what??

fiting the guard

put the handle on

here we are after 2 hours of rough grinding the handle, by grinder and by hand at the end.

here it is ready at last!

and the hole knife ready and sharpen.

after all i'm sure i need better pics, here is the specs
blade length 11,4in.distal tapered
brass guard and pin
handle is judas tree wood at 5,5 in. 17in.overall
hope you like it and any comment are wellcome

that's actually pretty nice looking work there.

Man, that is one good looking knife.

Someone smarter than me is going to have to comment on your hamon though. As far as I've ever been told you can't get a really active hamon on 5160. As far as I can see you have a lot of activity. Which is great, but leads me to believe it's not 5160.

Still a great looking knife.

thanx dave !! now about the type of the steel ,i have allso my suspictions , i now that you need a monosteel like1095- w1-w2 or other similar to have great hamon!, me from the other side for the only thing wich can be sure is that thing was a leaf spring as you can see on fotos, the type 5160 is onlya speculation ,becouse as i now is the most common steel type together with similar sup9a for spring leafs, so what else can be!!!!!!!!please help i need to now!!!!insteed i have allready make another blade from the same leaf wich produce nice hamon, but nothing like this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! after all becouse i'm short expirienced hith hamon, i suspect that in this blade i use heat proof resin to cover the blade, and i did it in three steps and every step had different density of the material!!!! i started with very loose ,to cover with a thin layer the hole blade
and i end it with very dense layer!!! it can be the hamon effected so much from the multi layers and multi density!!!!!!
bladesmiths please help me on this!
