Is there any leaf springs from cars that you wouldn't use? I'm just getting started and didn't want to start out by getting the wrong steel. Thanks.

Don't use the springs that are still attached to cars people use, they sometimes don't like that.

All of em. How many times has that steel flexed throughout its lifetime? Maybe some micro cracks throughout? Unhuh. Just order up some 5160 and hammer away, better yet 1084. Easy heat treat.
