Leaf Storm needs a bevel on the lock

I've had a Leaf Storm for quite a while now and one of the big reasons it hasn't made it into my EDC rotation was the sharp corner on the lock. After several closings my thumb would get a sore spot. Well over the weekend I put caution aside and grabbed my Dremel to fix the issue. After a few minutes of careful grinding and some sandpaper action I had a very nice bevel that works perfectly, no more sore thumb .

Sal.... are you listening? :)

Love my Gayle Bradley - but when I try to close it with my right thumb (one handed), it does not budge. If I use my thumb nail, I end up with a big nick. Now I use two hands to close it. I guess 2 of my girly thumbs are equal to one normal thumb?:thumbup:

Not really complaining though. Love the knife otherwise.
Maybe I will consider the dremel as well.

I did a search to see if anyone else complained before. I didn't find anyone so maybe I just have girly thumbs :p

That might be, that condition seems to afflict many people on the boards these days. ;)

What? We're talking about the Leafstorm, not the Gayle Bradley...

Pics or it didn't happen right? What we are talking about here is basic force divided by the area. The smaller the area that your thumb contacts the lock (i.e. a sharp edge) the more it will dig into your skin. Just like the old side show bed of nails trick. The more surface area (number of nails) you have the less likely it is that one will penetrate the skin. My bevel may not look like much but it made all the difference in comfort for me.

Nice. Looks clean.

I would like to take it one step further and completely grind the lock bar away from the spydie hole. I find when flicking it open I prefer to use my middle finger from the back side. It makes it very fast to open from pocket and my hand is on the knife in a good position for use. The lockbar covers the hole just enough to be in the way. I do not think the amount of material that needs to be removed is enough to make the lock bar weak?
