Leafstorm or Techno??

Need your help deciding on this one. I need a knife of this size, and already have the Leafstorm. I like it quite a bit, but after eyeballing the Techno for a while now, I'm considering selling the Leafstorm and getting the Techno instead. I think I'll like the fuller handle, full Ti, and high flat grind.

The price difference isn't an issue for me. I definitely don't need two knives of this size, so it can only be one of them.

Thanks in advance for your input!

I have both and I'd HIGHLY recommend the Techno. I personally think the Leafstorm has terrible ergos. It just doesn't feel comfortable in the hand. The Techno on the other hand feels VERY comfortable.

Personally, I never understood the appeal of either of these blades. Especially given their price. However, if you already have a leafstorm I'd just keep it. I don't think flipping it just for the "magic" steel of the Techno would be worth it.

Yup, I had the leafstorm all of 5 minutes before I decided to sell it. Love the overall design and looks but the ergos are just really bad, imo. The lockbar seemed to be kinda weak as well and I was afraid of over extending it.
The techno looks like a solid little tank of a knife. Live the blue backspacer. Only thing I'd like to change is maybe get a regrind done to slim down that thick blade.

Techno. You won't have to worry about slicing your index finger open on the back end of the blade. Although I own the Techno and edc it regularly with jeans and such, I have to admit I sometimes feel kinda silly carrying such a thick, stubby little "pocketknife." But, it does what it's 'posed to do.

Techno gets my vote as well. Xhp is badazz and the little techno performs much bigger.

I have been eyeing the Techno lately. I have seen some good prices on the exchange, it will only take one more time!

Love my Techno, the flat grind sold me, when compared to the LS.

Techno definitely, i had a leafstorm didn't like the ergos sold it then picked up a techno, and am loving it.

Thanks for all the responses so far!

I am definitely leaning toward the Techno. One thing I forgot to ask - I do like how the Leafstorm fits in my jeans watch pocket. Will the Techno also fit? Looks like it is pretty wide/thick, and has a deeper carry pocket clip so I wasn't sure.

Love my Techno - have been carrying it non-stop for 3 days now. I have been thinking about picking up a LeafStorm too but I just don't see how it costs as much as it does. If TaiChung's production costs are similar to Golden's then it would seem like a thicker blade made out of more expensive steel and two titanium scales with a G10 back-spacer vs one Ti scale and a G10 slab would make the Techno more expensive yet the Leafstorm is more at most online retailers.

Either way, I'm loving these little pocket-sized Ti framelocks and I may end up getting a Leafstorm if I can find a deal on one.

Today is the first day the Techno has been out of my pocket since it arrived. And it may be back in tomorrow. Great knife! I've been impressed with how well it slices for such a thick stock.

I have a Techno but not a Leafstorm. My other small knife is a Dragonfly 2. The Techno is a great knife with outstanding workmanship. For general tasks it works wonderfully and is just a cool knife. Obviously, it is a heavy duty blade but surprisingly one thing it excels at for me is doing finer work. Having a short wide blade with a lot of belly I can do things like shave down dowels/toothpicks to a smaller diameter for plugging holes better than any other knife I own. The thick blade lets me comfortably push with the thumbs on either hand all the way up to the tip of the blade and I just have more control. Of course, there are tasks where my first choice would be a thinner blade.

I had read reviews where folks said the Techno is difficult to open but honestly I have a small sebenza and just use the same frame-lock technique to open the Techno and it works great. It did seem to get easier after a brief break-in. My only complaint with the Techno is the slot cut for the lockbar to flex. It is a rectangular profile as opposed to a dished out slot. Being located externally under the clip, it catches going in and out of my pocket. I have never heard anyone else complain about this so maybe its just me. I guess I could have worked on my technique a bit and given the knife a "twist" going in and out but instead I ended up filling the slot with epoxy. I didn't prep the surface so it broke loose just enough to allow movement and kind of acts like an over travel stop as well. Since it is working well, I will probably look for a nicer looking solution to fill the slot.

I find both appealing but own neither. I say, if you can swing it financially, maybe purchase the Techno before you sell the leafstorm. Then, if you prefer the leafstorm, you can sell the Techno on the exchange. Just a thought. If it were me, I'd end up buying Techno and keeping both, because I have poor self control.

I've been carrying the Techno every day since I got it in August. IMO, it's the best small folder I've owned, and that includes Small Sebenzas, 3" XM-18s, Strider PTs and a custom Leafstorm. I would choose the Techno over the Leafstorm every time.

Wow, I'm surprised how much preference the Techno is getting over the Leafstorm. I've seen a lot of praise for the knife, but I've never heard anyone put it above knives like the Sebenza and Hinderer. I've got a small Sebenza Insingo, and if this knife impresses me even half as much I'll be a happy camper!

Based on all the strong support for the Techno, I've ordered one and sold the Leafstorm. Should have a cool new Techno in my hot little hands sometime this week!

Thanks for all the input!
