Hi I have spyderco leafstorm for some time which I like very much.Recently bought another one. Now, newer one seems lighter in weight, colour g10 lighter as well(you can see through more),letters on the blade seem darker on the older model, and then in the end on the box under leafstorm name older model has letters EK and newer one has AL.Anyone can chip in with the explanation why are the little differences on those two leafstorms.Thanks.

Im glad to see another fan of the Leaf Storm, in another thread I was in people were calling it their least favorite. Anyway I bought mine early this year and my box has a HL on it. I haven't paid much attention to these letters. I have no idea what they mean? Maybe a year code?

Could be something with the year of manufacturing, well like them the way they are.I use mine for everything never had any trouble cutting myself or such.It is a keeper for sure.:)

I use mine all the time as well. I just broke down a bunch of boxes with it, didnt slip, didnt get bit. Can't complain!

I kind of like mine, but the CF C22 Michael Walker does everything better.. ;)

I love the leafstorm, though I have never handled one. It is on the rather short list of folders I am currently looking to add to my collection. Waiting for the right deal to come up.

Here some pics, note older one has darker handles and letters on blade. Also where pivot is you can see redish colour of the washers more on the newer model.

The color is just normal variation. It's hard to notice unless you have two right next to each other, but the g10 and blade markings can be slightly different shades. I had two southards together recently and noticed the same thing. I'm not sure why they would be different weights though, unless it's very slight. Do you have access to a scale?
Nice looking knives by the way! Think I'll have to pick one of those up while they're still around.

Dont have the small scale but newer one feels slightly lighter.I guess its not that big of a deal just something I noticed by handling those knives all the time.Yes do get one they are really nice, fondling using them I think they are staying with me for good.:)
