It was immediately apparent at the family reunion -- these two are definitely up to no good.

Apprentice Mean Streets.

Very cool! I was wondering what happened to that one. Yah, good home is right. You going to use them?

I'd love to hear someone from the shop chime in on this one. Everything that I've been told is that these are INFI prototypes -- the exception to the talon hole rule. 9 made for testing, never meant for sale, and 3 made it out of the shop.

Here's some more pics. :D

The earliest post I can find about this knife is by Prisco in 2000. The url he mentions is no longer valid, but he clearly describes the proto's lack of talon hole and lanyard hole.

Badmojo has a pic of it, also referring to it as a proto.

Of course, I shouldn't assume that because it's a proto, that it isn't an apprentice blade. It would be very reassuring to hear from the shop about these.

If you hear from Jerry or someone else via PM or e-mail, please let us know what they think of it here in this thread. I'm sure a lot of folks, myself included for sure, would like to hear the history on these.

I've seen these before and they were described as Prototypes, not apprentice blades.

The lack of a talon hole does not always mean that they are apprentice blades, sometimes it does, but not always. I have a larger blade that does not have a talon hole and Jerry has confirmed it was one of his.

Also some, but not all of the apprentice blades I have seen have had the talon holes ground off.

I can't give you anymore info than this and all of this is just what I've seen discussed online, none of it comes directly from Jerry.

There were some Prototype MS's sold a few Extravaganza's ago and they did not have talon holes either though.
