I just bought my first Busse a few days ago the LE BATAC and I'm already addicted. I have beat the knive up like no other. Chopping a 2x4 was almost insulting to the knive.. it had it cut through in 4 minutes and still shaved hair off my arm. I'm now considering a leaner meaner. The price seems high at mid 400.00. I have been told that the combination of handle slabs and blade color is the reason for the high price. It has bright red handles and black coated blade. Is this true? The knife looks beautiful and I am now addicted I just don't want to overpay. Thanks for any information.

I believe you are talking about the Meaner Streets that came from the Busse Company Store. They among some others were a special run made just for the Company Store. They are not the original Leaner Meaner Streets, but are thinner than the original Meaner Street. The black with red G-10 handle slabs should mic out at around 3/16" thick, or 0.18". The original LrMrS mic out at 0.15" and the original MrS mic out at 0.220".

$400.00 is pretty steep IMHO. Some of the Company Store Meaners have gone for 200.00 to 300.00 in the Exchange and on Ebay. They typically don't go higher than that. The most common ones are black on black, sage on black, green on green, and black on red G-10.

Hope this helps.

i think i sold mine for 250 a couple months ago.

iirc retail was in the 220 range.

someone's trying to get you if there asking $400 for a red g-10/black meaner:eek: I don't usually talk price here, but that's insane.

Don't pay that. Look on the exchange for any coated meaner, all that came from BCS in past year are all the same except color. You can find one for $250. If you don't find one for that(you will), put up a wanted to buy.

Now the older satin ones's would be much higher than there price.

Batac LE and the Meaner's are awesome blades:thumbup:

edit- Tony has a good point, the G-10 were a little higher at the BCS...around $20 more I think, and like he said the miliganza's(muddy/tan and sage/black) are going for a little less since so many were made.

While I agree that $400 is high I think that $250 may be a little low for some. Also the G-10 knives were a bit more from the store and might sell for more than the MilGanzaa knives. There were a ton of MilGanza knives made.

The black blade with black & tan G-10 would be hard for me to part with unless a person got to the $300+ range.

The top one here.

What LrMrS? Tony's hiding those:p

The true leaners were .150
The tweeners like the DC/black G-10 you may be refering to were .170 and sold in past ganza and again at most recent Knob show.

I have often wondered what we are supposed to call the one's between the true .150 leaners and the org .220 meaners:confused:
I just call em tweener's

I've been referring to them as the Milli-Meaners, either flat ground to .170 or saber ground w/ .195 spine
