Well, OldPhysics has finally made the fateful leap- now he is the proud owner of a IMac, which I am currently setting up for him. It sports a bad ass 27 inch screen(lovely) I am green with jealousy because i wanted this exact computer-but with a better graphics card for graphic art work. How many of you have made the leap? What do you love/hate about apple?

I dislike apple because I build my own computers, and I know that they're overpriced and rather limited in application.

What exactly does this have to do with knives? O-o.

I did a couple years ago, I like it because it does what I need it to do. It looks nice and has been pretty reliable.

I'm a commercial artist (illustrator & designer) who's been using Macs since about 1987. I've used Unix, Linux and window, too. I'll stick with Macs, thank you.

.
yeah, but is a mac better than a sebbie? ;)

Yes. The cost difference between a Sebenza and an Endura just buys F&F, not any real difference in cutting ability. The cost difference between a Mac and a Dell buys a dramatically more stable operating system and much less trouble with malware. Now if you could legally install the Mac OS onto the cheaper Dell hardware, then THAT would be something worth celebrating.

But I don't know why this in being discussed on a knife forum.

dunno guys.

will the all-wonderful mac out-cut a Sebenza?

after all, that's what counts, right?...this being a KNIFE forum and everything...:D

Once you go Mac, you never go back!

dosidania, despite the comments here, BFC has a perfectly good place for discussing such matters--the Gadgets & Gear subforum. I expect this one will get moved there any moment. Guys, she's new. Cut her some slack.

I have now taped a Sebbie -- a large Classic -- to the side of this here iMac.

Hopefully, that will render daughter's first Thread Bladeforums-ready.:)

If not, I am prepared to try chopping something simple. Say some cheese.:D

Don't chop the Mac!!!

I made the switch years ago and have not had any regrets. If you're going to be working with video or graphics, Macs are still where it's at.

I have an iPhone too, and the Mac laptop makes that world oh-so-easy.

I wonder if this is the first time a Sebenza has been taped to an iMac.

I certainly hope so.:)

I'm an innovator. Just ask anyone I've ever worked for ... or, for that matter, with.:D;)

For the moment, I will hold of chopping the Mac ... bending to popular opinion.

But I'm leaving that Sebbie in place. Just in case.

i consider a mac if they werent so darned expensive. i can just build my own pc that will do everytihng i want for a considerable amount less

I once had a Dell. I taped a Case peanut to it and the knife developed severe lateral blade play, the blade was so off center when closed it rubbed holes in the liners and its walk and talk became nothing more than limp and mutter. I ditched the Dell and got a Mac. The Case peanut was taped to this Mac and within a week the fit and finish rivaled a Tony Bose custom. No kidding.

I wonder if my Mac would center the hydraulic brakes on my mountain bike.

I have both a homebuilt Linux box and a old G4 tower. cant wait to start working again so i can by a Mac laptop.

I have a Macbook... I don't ever plan on being without a mac in my life. This thing just runs perfect and is awesome.

I've had plenty of other computers before. But nothing has been as awesome as my macbook. If I had a mac back in high school I would probably have sought out a job in a computer related field. I love it!

i run linux, windows xp, vista, mac osx leopard and snow leopard and a hackintosh.

a hackintosh basically being a computer i built with pc parts running mac osx.

for the most part i use the macs but sometimes i need windows for specific software, mostly software that i use for my gps.
