So I'm staying in a hotel up in the mountains to get some skiing in over the holiday and I picked up some sushi at the local grocery store for dinner. I forgot to grab chopsticks and of course there's no silverware in my room so I decided I'd use my 0562. It was a great idea until I forgot what I was doing while watching tv and sliced the hell out of the inside of my mouth! Haha what an idiot I am! I don't think I need stitches but I'm done eating and drinking for a few hours. I guess I know what I need to row in my ski bag now....

The good news is that the inside of your mouth is the fastest healing part of your body, I'm fairly certain. Things could always be worse.. I smashed the tip of my finger off in '08. That sucked!

That's good to know. I remember hearing that your eyes heal faster hthan most of your body but I didn't know that the inside of your mouth was also fast healing. This is the first time I've really cut myself good, which is probably pretty good considering how often I play with my knives or fabricate reasons to use them. :)

Like it was said you mouth will heal and very fast. Try not to rinse your mouth with mouth wash that has alchohol. And try not to drink anything stronger than beer for a day. The first instinct of people is to swish with listerine to kill any bacteria in the cut. Problem is this also kills the enzymes and good bacteria in your mouth that are going to work at healing the cut. And any bacteria that was on the blade is long past the point of entry. Rinse with cold water if you are still bleeding. It will contrict the blood vessels to prevent more bleeding. My guess is though by now the bleeding has all ready stopped.

I am surprised you didnt go outside and find a stick then use the knife to whittle chopsticks

Thanks for the info. I did rinse with cold water until the bleeding stopped but I'm glad you mentioned avoiding the alcohol mouth rinse. I would have done that.

Next time I will think outside the box and use the knife to fashion an eating utensil. Also, no I hadn't yet tapped into to the programming that costs extra. LOLOL

Was this the elmax version that you did this with? I can say that my 0562cf came pretty sharp! I can't remember the last production knife that came with a factory edge this sharp.

That's what I was expecting an accident while whittling the chopsticks. Did not see the stabbing yourself in the mouth using a knife as a fork coming :p. Hope it's just a simple wound that heals quickly...

As a Taiwanese who is familiar with Japanese culture, I must remind you that people use their fingers to eat sushi too……

This is the 0562 elmax version. ZT does a great job with their factory edges. Most are incredibly sharp out of the box.

Yes I could have use my hands for the sushi but I was excited to fabricate a use for my knife :).

So overnight the cut seems to have healed quite nicely. I'll probably need to be careful with it today but it seems like it was rather pretty minor.
