In the two years or so that I have been here at the forums, I have learnt and am continuing to learn about the secrets and mysteries of steel.

Along the way, I have also caught a glimpse of the people behind the blades. All in all, it has been an enriching experience. I am sure, knifemakers themselves are learning, too. But for them, the learning experience is on another level.

Even though, knives have been around since time immemorial, breakthroughs continue to take place now and then. When that happens, the industry moves on to a new level.

From then on, knives get better, stronger and may stay sharp longer.
Underlying all these are some of the friendships formed. Some are lasting, some fleeting but all memorable.

I happen to be a happy recipient of such experiences. Bladeforums have been good to me. I hope this place has got a little out of me, too although I don't know what.

I am sure a number of us have had some very memorable experiences. What are yours?

My most memorable experience was finding the HI forum-- life hasn't been quite the same since. I really like Bladeforums in general though. The exchange of information is a wonderful thing. I learn something new every time I log on.

I've been making for 50 years, but didn't really get serious until I sold my first knife, which I'll never forget. Then I discovered this forum, another WOW! And I have to agree, the info, sharing, and new friends this forum has introduced is beyond measure! This forum is leading to the formation of the Iowa Knifemakers Association also, which is just a single example of the many wonderful things the forum is doing for us. When I discovered this forum it was like digging for worms and discovering a treasure. The same time my new knife shop was built I received an injury that put me down for over half a year. While home recovering I discovered this forum and it really was a comfort and inspiration to talk to other makers and knuts. What a bunch of folks! I'm not able to really get out there in the shop to do much yet, but I have patient customers and new work to do, also. I really have to thank all you guys and gals for not only priceless info, but also being all that you are.
