Hi, It's been a while since I posted anything here, hope everyone is doing well.
Due to health reasons I had to stop making knives a while back and needed something else to keep me busy, been learning to make sheaths and really enjoying it!!

I was running out of my knives to make sheaths for so a friend of mine sent me this VERY nice Fred Ott Fighter/Bowie with a 10" blade (sorry no pics of the knife!). I wanted to make a frog type sheath but didn't have a stud/button so I came up with this to basically hold the belt loop. The tapered sheath portion detaches from the belt loop portion and can be carried separately in your waistband or belt if you'd like.

If anyone's interested in seeing my other 11 sheaths, you can see them here: My Sheaths

The only problem I have with making sheaths for other makers knives is......I have to return the knife!

Advice, comments, questions, most welcome,
Dave

Thanks SpearZ!

Thanks Keith!

I Just realized I forgot the word "work" after leather in the thread title :o :)
I meant to say "Learning Leather Work"!

that is a very nice sheath, the colors contrast nicely and go well with the wood of the knife.

Question, Dave----Did you say learning? You are talking about a doctorate, aren't you? ---Sandy---

Most excellent work! Is it hand or machine stitched? Allot of planning went into the design.

Thanks very much you guys!!

Loving every minute of the learning Sandy, in it's own way just as challenging as knife making.

Hand stitched Bruce

Clean, beautiful work. That truly completes the picture as functional artwork.

If you're accepting orders, please put me on your list....

Ingenious and beautiful. Excellent work sir. Wouldn't mind having something like that for one of my knives (although I'd probably separate the two halves somehow in the field and lose my knife  )

Thanks very much again!

WA Martin, It would be very difficult for the 2 parts to become separated but I've thought about it and have another version that would easily take care of that concern.

I've got 3 more practice sheaths to make then I was going to decide, (based on whether or not I'm happy with my quality) to see if anyone would be interested in having a sheath made for their knife. Never thought I would do this or find anything that I like as much as knife making but I really like working with leather!

If you choose to make sheaths I hope you get lots of customers and have fun. I don't think any of your customers would be dissappointed in any way.

wow I wish I could make something that looked like that.....I wouldnt know where to begin!!!

Wowser......I don't even have furniture that looks that nice.

Nice job.
