I'm repairing a CB amp (Palomar 225) and I need to replace both of its transistors. I am not very electrical component smart, so I need some help deciphering what parts I need.

I have 2 transistors and I'm not sure I'm reading them correctly. I think I'm suppose to read the first and third string of digits. The two transistors read as follows..

Here is the data sheet for a 2N741 http://alltransistors.com/transistor.php?transistor=6223

And here is the data sheet for a 2N738 http://alltransistors.com/transistor.php?transistor=6217

How am I suppose to read these things and where can I get them? I used Mouser Electronics but with no luck in finding them.

Those are 2N3904 transistors, through-hole mount, TO-92 case. They're about $0.40 ea. at mouser, probably can find them at your local radio shack too. The ones you linked to are opposite polarity from the one you need.

Well, I'm not sure I would make much difference by itself. Completly upgrading all components in th output path would help, but doubtful those alone would help. Just be sure the gain is the same and I think you should be ok. I'm still learning about audio amplifiers myself, so take my advice for what's its worth (not much).
