Hi all,
I'm going to start trying to learn how to sharpen convex. Anyone have any ideas on where I can pick up a leather strop and the green compound for it?

Also, are there any tutorials posted anywhere for beginners trying to learn this new method?

Thanks a lot.

This. Watch the videos as well, but just use them as a starting point. In my very limited experience sharpening convex, like my Bravo-1, I have found that while ALL the videos I watch say use only the pressure of the blade I actually need to use more. It may be because I'm using leather as a background and not a soft mousepad. So start off soft and move to more pressure if you have to, thats the most important thing I have learned so far.

I've one more question about convex edging - Verhoeven (among others) observed that grinding away from the edge creates a larger burr, is this something that requires extra consideration when convexing or is it not as much of an issue because of the conformable backing under the grinding media?
