Hey guys,

I've got my custom slabs on my Izula about finished. All that's really left to the blade is to polish it. But, what (fixed) blade is complete without a proper sheath. I've considered kydex, but I'm thinking I'd like this to replace my pocket knife, which makes leather look a lot better for the job. I've (absolutely) no experience with leather. Knife Kits offers a set up with instructions and basic tools (http://www.knifekits.com/vcom/product_info.php?cPath=41_264_327&products_id=1566)

Will this provide what I need instruction and tool-wise to get started? Are there any additional tools that I will need? Any other thoughts or suggestions to someone starting out down this path?

Thanks and God bless,
Adam

Adam I'm not sure if your dead set on making your own leather sheath, but knivesshipfree.com offers some really nice leather ones that fit the Izula. Also Martin Swinkels is a sheath making master here on the forum that can make you a rockin' leather sheath for your Izula to your specs. I'd look him up, he's even got his own blog with a bunch of pics.

I'm aware of KSF's sheath, it's not a bad little piece. I may get one some day. But what I am looking for is a sheath to fit in a very specific pocket on my pants. I'm sure that Mr. Swinkles can make a good sheath, but part of the fun of what I've done with my Izula is that I've done it myself. I want to keep it that way. Plus, I live by myself and don't have a lot to do. I like to work with my hands. This will be a fun new skill to learn. Thanks for all your input.

Adam

Adm go to the Sheath Making Forum and there's a thread called (Leather Sheath Making Tutorial). It's by far THE MOST in depth how to thread I've ever seen and shows a full play by play on how to make a high quality leather sheath by a guy who really know what he's doing! It lists what to do step by step and has a detailed pic for each one so it's like being there watching him make one. Before you buy any tools or materials I'd look and read through this and talk to this guy with any questions you might have so he can get you set off in the right direction. The Sheaths Forum is towards the top of the scroll. I really hope this helps you in what your looking for Adam!!! Good luck bro!

333rm,

Thanks bro. I appreciate it. I'd strolled through the sheath making forum but did not see the thread you had mentioned. It sounds like a great read. I'll search it up!

God bless,
Adam
