Leather and kydex mounting platform

Well here is my first attempt at a leather project. I have been wanting a way to have a multiple carry option mount for my different knives, and now my belt pouch as well. So this is what I came up with. It allows me to strong side, cross draw, small of back angled, and a scout carry option. So I took a 6oz leather piece for the back and a 3 oz in the front and sandwiched a piece of .93 kydex I between to give it a rigid platform to mount. Then glued and stitched together. It is my first hand stitch job and I have a long way to go on that front, but i did learn a lot too. But this was all hand tooled and hand stitched. Please be honest and let me know what you think.

I guess the best way to put it, I would buy one with out hesitation. It looks innovative, multifunctional, comfortable and well made. Nice work! Email me when you have pricing worked out:)

That's a really cool idea. I always end up attaching leather belt loops to my kydex in some way but this is allows much more functionality. I would prefer it be not so thick though. may be tough to thin out the loop sections without losing that rigidity though. that may not matter though as you have two points of contact. nice job man.

I'm still working on my first leather sheath and I hope it turns out as well as this did. NICE!

I just ordered a TDI clip for my bk11 this morning, and now im like daaang this looks way cooler. Between the stickies above and this I may have been inspired!

I think it's brilliant. The Kydex is in the center there? Looks comfortable.

Is that a pricking iron in the background? What kind of thread are you using? A small investment in a stitch groover would help get those stitches at, or below the surface which would be durable, and I think it makes stitching look nicer. I got mine from Amazon for around $14 shipped I think. I was convinced (after ordering) that I'd have to replace it because of quality, but it's a good tool.

I love seeing new ideas, and this qualifies. Nice!

Looks good! I have a similar idea I'm working on for a dangler sheath instead of using a loop:)
