Well I tried my hand at making my own sheath. I am pretty happy with it. I made the template on paper, transferred it to the leather, got it wet to mold to the head. I didnt have a punch so I used a drill for the chicago screws. I put boiled linseed oil on it.

Nice job. It looks very nice. I am wanting to make sheaths for my axe projects, but I have no idea what weight to use etc.

Nice job.
I've been puzzling over how to make several without hand-stitching, which is such a pain.
The welt is what slows things down.

I like the sheath but if you are gonna make any more I would get a punch set. Punches usually only come out to about a dollar a piece when sold in sets and they make holes so much easier and cleaner than a drill, especially on the large diameters. But there is a real nice look to that set up, I like it.

Very, very nice. Those are aluminum "bindery screws" aka "Chicago screws". The welt is a very good idea but that aluminum is not going to dull that steel. The welt however will protect the sides of the leather as the welt will take the cutting edge on. Very well engineered piece of leather work. I like to use Chicago screws. There is much that we in the leather side can learn from the Kydex people and the use of these types of fasteners is one of those lessons...IMHO.
