Good evening,

I am looking for a leather belt for the KO work sharp. My research showed people talking about it but no where to buy:confused:
I know that Ken Schwartz sells linen belts, does anyone else sell them that you know of? Does anyone know where can I buy a leather belt?

Thanks!

Klingspor made a linen belt that fit the Blade Grinding Attachment... you might contact them and see if they can make one. They're pretty helpful.

The only leather belt I know of is for the BGA (an upgrade totally worth it IMO.) Don't know of one for the stock setup... I think it would have to be pretty thin for clearance, plus it would have to be used freehand without the guide, since you could only use one side. The 6000g belt does a great job of cleaning up the edge... you might just consider getting a regular strop and using that as an alternative, since it shouldn't take much beyond the 6K belt.

We have the leather belt kits for you. Please call us at 800-597-6170 or visit our website work sharp tools.com to order.
Comes as a complete kit with leather conditioner and 0.5 micron chromium oxide honing compound.

Stay sharp out there.

Is there a belt that fits the KO work sharp without purchasing the blade grinding attachment? Doesn't seem to be.

Ya that's what I am actually looking for too, the work sharp rep above mentioned a leather belt but it is only for the grinder attachment.

No there isn't guys, sorry.
Since the leather stretches so much over time (up to 1" on a 18" belt) the tensioning mechanism on the KTS and KO cannot accommodate this much stretch.
We have even tried under sizing them, but have not been able to get the consistency and performance we need.
So on the Blade Grinding Attachment we incorporated an adjustable tensioning mechanism to accommodate the leather belt stretch.
We continue to explore both leather and other options, but at this time the BGA and leather belt is our best solution. Thanks.

Well thanks for posting the correct info anyway. I personally will have to re-think buying the BGA.

You can purchase linen and nanocloth belts from Ken Schwartz and use those for stropping with compound.

Currently these are not available on any storefront so you will need to contact Ken directly.

The video demonstrates on a 2x72" , but these are available for all variations of the Work Sharp , as well as other common belt sander sizes.
