I have an old Randall knife that keeps getting a white almost powdery mold on the leather handle. What should I be using to treat the leather with to prevent this?

Thanks

I'd give Lexoil a try. It is a very good leather conditioner you can find almost everywhere.

+1 on the Lexol.

I use the conditioner and cleaner on my motorcycle jacket and gloves, which are leather.

A barber/beauty supply should be able to get you Fromm's strop dressing. It looks and feels a lot like hand lotion, and it works very well on barber strops.

If you're getting mold, I'd clean it first before applying a conditioner. LEXOL-pH is their cleaning product. Follow that up with the conditioner.

Absolutely nothing wrong with Lexol, but, in certain cases, it becomes food for mold. This method will avoid that. There is a product called "Leather Therapy Leather Wash" that you can usually find at a Tractor Supply, or some tack shops. It is not cheap, but it works. Follow the directions, should take care of the problem.

hope this helps,
