The new Super SOG Bowie looks impressive! I'm not convinced on the practicality of the stacked leather handles. For this reason I have avoided byuing a bowie from Fällkniven. But this knife is a dream come true so I'm really interested.
Just how durable are the leather handles from SOG??

I have 2 SOG S1 Bowies .
They are the Best knives i own , the only knife that i use everyday ,
and had no problems with the stacked leather handles.
I also have a Case M3 dated 1943 with a stacked leather handle and
its still tight . I know my SOGs will last that long
they are OUTSTANDING knives , get your self a Super Bowie
you will love it .:D

Stacked leather has been used in the handle of some makes of hammers, and I believe its been rather durable. Isn't it coated with epoxie anyway?

The leather washers are resign impregnated. They are rock hard. I have seen many Bowies that have seen their share of abuse and have yet to see one where I felt the handle material had some kind of problem resulting from the elements. For the most part, they have been near-new. From my perspective, that leather handle (and the overall knife) will outlive most of the highest expectations.
