Leather for a strop question

May not be the place to ask but I am sure a lot of you know the answer.

I’m not a knife maker or anything but I have a strop and the leather is just terrible on it. It may not even be real leather.

Since the wood is nice and the size I like, I am going to take it off and put some new leather on it.

I found this sheet on Amazon and was wondering if you guys think this leather is suitable for a strop? Do I need thicker, heavier?

Im going to get the glue Horsewright Horsewright mentioned in the glue thread also.

Was going to put a smooth side out on one side and rough side out on the other?

Thanks for any advice.

Wrong leather.
You want plain veg-tanned leather. About 8-10 oz weight is good. Better than buying a whole roll is to buy a belt strap.

Best I’ve used is horse. Try to find a piece called a horse butt. Horse is more dense and firmer than cowhide. A horsebutt is veg tan as Stacy recommended. Look at Maverick Leather.
