Leather for Sheaths?

Hello, All!

I have been wanting to get leather for some future sheaths. I am new to making sheaths, but I have SOME experience with upholstery. So I think that, that knowledge should help me with leather work. I have been buying my leather from amazon.com, and I am tired of buying 2 square feet at a time. Does anybody know where I could get some leather by the bulk? (I know I'm new to leather working, so if I have extra people might think that it will go to waste. Which isn't true).
I appreciate all the help I can get!

for undyed leather I HIGHLY recommend RJF Leather http://rjfleather.com/content/index.php/products/ - their double shoulders are excellent and some of the best leather I've used in 50+ years. Roger offers good prices and excellent service - if you decide to use this leather tell Roger Hi (and no I am not a paid shill  )

for pre-dyed leather (which I don't use) I would respectfully go with Paul Long's recommendation of Wickett & Craig http://www.wickett-craig.com/

FWIW - I did use the undyed leather from W & C for many (20+) years and there are those who still prefer it.........

Also, if you want to handle a few types of leather all in one place you might try Tandy/The Leather Factory. They carry a few different grades of leather according to your pocketbook.

Sometimes getting to handle it before you buy is a good thing, then later you can move on to the other suggested providers. :)

I do prefer Wickett &Craig, but I do buy about 75% in the drum dyed colors. I have tried both W&C and RJF mentioned above. RJF is certainly good leather, and he does offer drum dyed colors now, but it's just not my first choice. Either vendor will honor an order for as little as one side or one double shoulder or back or what have you. If you are active at all that quantity should go fairly fast, and as far as "left over" leather, I can't remember what that is:D
