Leather for Wassily Chair?

What weight leather would be best for a Wassily Chair? I was given a frame, but the vinyl panels are trash. I've got them as templates, but wanted advice on what weight I should use for the leather - I was thinking 9/10 oz, but would that be to heavy?

8-10 oz russet saddle leather from Wickett and Craig would be what I'd use. Just lightly oil your pieces prior to assembly and you'd get pretty much that same color. After oiling ( I use pure neatsfoot oil) just a coat of BagKote as a finish and you'd be set.
